Artist biography
Tallulah Hutson is a figurative oil painter whose practice has expanded from portraiture to explorations of the body in movement. As she paints dancing figures in heightened states, Tallulah interrogates contemporary experiences of escapism, transcendence, defiance and despair.
Tallulah was born and raised in London before leaving for Florence, Italy, to train in figure drawing and portraiture at Charles H. Cecil Studios. After 2 years, she returned to London to continue evolving her practice from her studio with The Bomb Factory Art Foundation. Tallulah has been a resident artist with the Foundation since 2021, travelling to New York from October – December 2023 to participate in an 8-week intensive residency. In September 2025, she graduated from the Royal College of Art, London, with a Master’s in Painting.
Tallulah exhibited at the National Portrait Gallery, London, as a shortlisted artist in the Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer Portrait Award 2025 (formerly known as the BP Portrait Award). Her work will tour with the Award to the Laing Art Gallery, Newcastle, from March – September 2026.
